What does this qualification cover?

This qualification is an introduction to the information and knowledge needed to work in primary, secondary or special schools. It covers the many varied roles that full and part time support staff may fulfil including: administrative roles, site support roles, technical roles and volunteers, as well as those roles that work directly with children and young people in the school environment.

Who is it suitable for?

All those who would like to work in a school support role. It also provides initial training and induction for those new in post.

How many credits are required to complete it?

The Award requires 12 credits.

How is it assessed?

It will be assessed by your tutor or assessor using a range of methods. This could include direct observation in the workplace, a portfolio of evidence, written assignments or a task set by CACHE.

Do you need to be working to take the qualification?

No, as this is a knowledge only qualification.

How long does it take to complete?

You can usually complete it in 6 months or less.

What related qualifications can you progress to?

The Award shares mandatory units with the Level 2 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools qualification. This provides a direct progression route as any shared units completed can be transferred over and counted towards the Certificate.

Which type of job roles can learners apply for on completion?

This will depend on the units chosen as it covers a wide range of job roles.
